California Olive Oil Council And San Diego Bay Wine and
Food Festival Announce Winners Of Annual Olive Oil Competition

San Diego, CA (Nov. 21, 2007) - Producers of the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival and the California Olive Oil Council (COOC) are pleased to announce winners from its annual Olive Oil Competition November 15 & 16 in San Diego. Taking Best of Show top honors this year is the Jovia Farms Arbequina in the Extra Virgin Olive Oil category, said Patricia Darragh, executive director at the COOC.

"There was a wonderful turnout from California-based olive oil producers and we are thrilled to recognize their achievements at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival," added Darragh. "The competition is a wonderful platform for exposure and introduces their products to over 4,000 wine and food enthusiasts in town for the week-long event."

Attendees at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival had an opportunity to meet with COOC Tasting Panel members and learn the structure and process of olive oil tasting at the Tasting Tent located within the Grand Event on November 17. Over 1,000 festival attendees went through the tent which featured producers whose oils are judged in the competition as well as a wide variety of oils from around the world.

The COOC Tasting Panel as well as local chefs judged the competition, featuring submissions from California olive oil producers, and awarded in categories for extra virgin, and flavored olive oils.
